Subject: Armed Robbery - Chestnut and Arabella

Just before 3 AM on August 25, the victim had dropped off a passenger near Chestnut and Arabella, and observed a white or cream colored pick-up at the stop sign in front of him. A black male dressed in a black shirt, cap, and black mask over the lower half of his face, exited the pick up truck from the passenger side and pointed a gun at the victim, ordering him to exit his vehicle.

The perpetrator patted him down and took his wallet, then told him to start running. The victim observed the perpetrators' pick-up and his own vehicle, a blue Dodge Charger, being driven north on Arabella St.

All patrols have been notified and a police report has been filed.

Please remember to always look around and be aware of your surroundings. Never get so close to another vehicle that you can't drive around it if a threat emerges. Assess your surroundings quickly and instinctively. It's 3am at a stop sign and some guy in front of you at a stop sign exits his vehicle--assume it can't be good. Because you've left room to evade, you accelerate fast around the guy and get away. It's no time or place to entertain a question about directions or that his truck just broke down or anything else. You escape.

And please, don't forget to call for an escort (504-451-1614)! Be Safe.
