Securing Our Future Together
Dear Neighbors,
As you may recall from our last email report, in addition to our usual 24/7
security patrols, the Upper Hurstville Security District arranged for an additional security patrol
from 6 pm until 2 am. during the Christmas season. We had double patrol coverage in the evening, the
time when most people request escort service, during a time of the year when many people were returning
home late at night. That additional shift has now ended.
However, special double patrol coverage will resume again during Mardi Gras,
from February 13, 2009 until February 25, 2009. At that time, we will again have the benefit of access
to both NOPD and NOPP (New Orleans Private Patrol) from 6 p.m. – 2 a.m., 7 nights a week, to respond
to your requests for escorts.
To save money during the traditionally quieter parts of the year, we will be
sharing the costs of the two less active shifts with the Audubon Area district, the district that
extends adjacent to Upper Hurstville from Prytania to St. Charles. The following is the regular shift
schedule:
8AM - 4PM
one patrol car patrolling both the Audubon and Upper Hurstville area.
4PM - Midnight
One NOPD car for Upper Hurstville only
Midnight-8AM
one patrol car patrolling both the Audubon and Upper Hurstville area.
Regularly scheduled officers include:
8 am – 4 pm NOPP officer Baldasaro
4 pm – 12 pm NOPD, as administered by Sgt. Gerald Young
12 pm - 8 am NOPP officer Nat Moran
